Select Syslog Server Type

This option sets which Server type is used with Monilog. Most importantly, you can select between using a WinSyslog or MonitorWare Agent generated file or a database. Available options are:

1.   WinSyslog
2.   BSD (Linux) Syslog
3.   Kiwi Enterprises Syslog
4.   MonitorWare Database

Logs Location/DSN

Enter the directory where your logfiles are located. Make sure that this path exists. If the Syslog server type is set to MonitorWare Database, this fields must contain the ODBC DSN Name.

User Name

The user name used to connect to the database. It is dependant on the database system used if it must be specified (e.g., Microsoft Access does not need one, while Microsoft SQL Server can force you to use one). If in doubt, please see your database administrator.

Password

The password used to connect to the database. It must match the "User ID". Like the user id, it is dependant on the database system if a password is needed. Passwords can be stored either encrypted or unencrypted. We highly recommend storing them encrypted.

Logs prefix/Log name label

This field is used to configure the basic log prefix. By default, this is "WinSyslog".

Logfile naming

Sets the logfile naming. Available options are:

1.   WinSyslog Naming Convention [log_prefix-yyyy-mm-dd.log]
2.   Single File Logs [i.e. "messages" for Linux]

WinSyslog naming convention is default. Alternatively you can select "Single file logs". Single log files are log files that never change their names. They continue having teh same name over and over again. Usually used on Linux where log files are automatically backuped so the main logfile ever has the same name.

Space Warning (MB)

Space Warning is used to alert the administrators when the logs are close to fill the server hard disk. A warning message will be displayed in the report when the free space on the logs' location goes under the specified threshold (in MB).

Report Language

You can select in which language you want the report to be generated. At the moment English, Deutsch (German) and Français (French) are available.

Logging Host

This fields is a replacement for "localhost" and "127.0.0.1" entries within the logfiles.

"Report Appearance" button

It opens a "Report Appearance" window where all the configurations applying to the appearance of the report (e.g. colors, fonts) can be made.
